Tomas Jonsgarden
After graduating from film school in Stockholm Tomas spent the next couple of years learning his trade from national and international directors as 1st AD on music videos, commercials and feature films. He got his first break in 2001 with the chance to direct a music video and before the year was out, Tomas had directed five commercials and a further four music videos, two of which earned him the first of many industry awards.
His films are distinguished by a captivating cinematic style that centers around human narratives. He possesses a unique ability to elevate ordinary moments into something extraordinary, capturing the nuances of human emotion that resonate deeply with audiences making us laugh, cry or blush when we recognize ourselves in them.
Alongside his stunning work for international brands such as Volkswagen, Skoda, Netflix, BMW, Kia, Axe, Ikea, Dell, Visa and Mercedes we recommend his short film "Kasper and Sophie", a powerful coming-of-age short that unfolds in one incredible camera move, with a climax that ultimately raises the question of how far one is willing to go for true love. For a thought-provoking experience, don't miss "Save the Survivors," a compelling wake-up call for humanity delivered with subtlety and impact.
Tomas's ability to translate these nuanced gestures onto the screen has garnered him numerous awards, including recognition at prestigious events such as Cannes Lions, British Arrows, Epica, Eurobest, and New York Festivals. In 2023, Tomas was honored with the title of "Director of the Year" at the ROY Awards.
