Aged 13 Rúnar began making shorts inspired by his family, childhood memories and hip-hop feuds, set against the contrast of his suburban Reykjavík neighbourhood in Iceland. Later he found himself working for a commercial production company, giving 35mm short-ends the chance to music videos for local artists. He picked up an EDDA (The Icelandic Film Awards) for Best Short film which opened the door to his first commercial directing the inspiring triathlon athlete, Sarah Reinertsen for Nike.
Since then, he's directed visual and character-driven commercials for top brands picking up global awards and nominations from Epica, Cannes, Webby, Roy, Edda, and the Icelandic Ad Awards with Shots Magazine and Creativity Online featuring him regularly.
