Meji Alabi

Dreaming in frames, Meji Alabi is renowned for his ability to craft emotive narratives that delve deep into Black culture, celebrating themes of love, family, and music with style and depth. (...)

Meji Alabi is a Nigerian-British director and photographer. His music videos stand as cultural touchstones, shaping conversations and resonating with audiences worldwide. Grammy Awards for his collaborations with luminaries like Beyoncé, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Davido, and Stormzy have solidified his reputation as a visionary in the industry.
Beyond music, Meji's influence extends to branded content and commercials, where he has lent his creative touch to campaigns for Cadillac, Guinness, Oreo, KFC, Toyota, John Frieda, Martell, and Nike, consistently delivering relevance and impact.
His work tends to be energetic and positive and at times intensely personal, as was the case for his campaign films for Malaria No More, featuring David Beckham and Eliud Kipchoge alongside many other global stars. In his own words:
"We're putting the pressure on malaria. We're attacking it rather than it attacking us. That's the mindset, to move from a position of strength as we tackle this killer. In between the two films, I caught malaria in Ghana. I was in the hospital for days, not knowing what was happening to me. I was literally near death, and it just reinforced everything for me, that what I'm doing [with these spots] makes sense."
A bridge between African and Western markets, Meji Alabi excels across various visual mediums, including music videos, photography, advertising campaigns, magazine editorials, and artist branding.
Raised in London, Texas, and Lagos, Meji's multicultural upbringing infuses his work with a rich tapestry of influences. His passion for filmmaking and profound curiosity about people drive his creative pursuits, always prioritizing the representation of artists' visions.
As one of the most sought-after directors and photographers in the music industry, Meji Alabi's journey has only just begun. With a knack for pushing creative boundaries and a commitment to excellence, he is poised to leave an indelible mark on the advertising landscape for years to come.
