Julian Acosta
Julian describes himself as always having been driven by wanderlust and a deep-seated love of music. Drawing from the rich tapestry of the Americana he experienced while traveling the States as a session percussionist and later with his own band, Julian uses this vibrant backdrop as the canvas for his visual storytelling.
The raw energy and innocence of his music evolved into a distinctively poetic realist filmmaking style, giving rise to unconventional and remarkable short films, music videos, and advertising campaigns. His music had always possessed the power to stir emotions, and since transitioning to film, this ability has transcended the screen, resonating with audiences on both sides of the Atlantic.
We are captivated by his extraordinary juxtaposition of auditory and visual elements, which, on paper, may seem unlikely but in practice, create a mesmerizing union that illuminates the subject from all angles. To witness his mastery, look no further than his films for Porsche and Hyundai.
More recently, Julian has used his performance-driven skill set to support fellow artists who were severely affected by lockdowns and the pandemic. He directed live broadcasts of first-person musical storytelling performances, incorporating spoken word, music, animation, and projections to convey powerful stories and messages. All proceeds from these initiatives were donated to charities dedicated to assisting struggling artists and preventing the closure of venues.
