Roman Rütten

Brooklyn. Growing up in Germany, he often felt like he didn’t
quite fit in. Over time, he came to understand that this outsider
perspective—the unique way he sees the world—is in fact his
greatest strength. (...)
He moved to New York at a young age, and the city quickly
became his teacher. Everything he knows about storytelling
was learned on its streets: the raw human narratives found on
every corner, the clash of high fashion and street culture, and
the underground music scene that taught him both rhythm and
rebellion. These elements have deeply influenced the way he
captures the world.
For Roman, photography is a sketchbook. He is constantly
shooting, always searching for that fleeting moment when a
subject's guard drops and their true self is revealed. This pursuit
is what draws him to film—it demands presence. Every frame
carries weight; no two are alike. In an age where the human
element is often overlooked, film remains, for him, a medium
with soul.
