Ed McCulloch

In Ed’s own words, “I like storytelling that’s emotional and honest, particularly stories that inspire a change in behaviour. I want to make the viewer feel something, to evoke a response and help them see connections to what’s going on in their own lives.” (...)

Ed's background in art direction significantly informs his approach to filmmaking, evident in his meticulous attention to casting, settings, wardrobe, art direction, lighting, and composition. After studying at the Miami Ad School and initially working as an agency art director, Ed synthesized his knowledge from advertising and life lessons to embark on his journey as a director.
One aspect we deeply admire about Ed is his collaborative spirit with actors, fostering performances that feel effortless and authentic. He delves deeply into research and infuses his own life experiences into his storytelling process. As Ed puts it, “Together we make things I could never create on my own, and that approach has always benefited my clients. That’s a big part of the beauty and magic of film”.
For those acquainted with our office in Hamburg, Ed's presence is immortalized through a life-size impact transfer on the internal fire door, a result of a memorable incident seconds before a PPM. Despite navigating the meeting with a mild concussion, Ed wholeheartedly recommends the experience of acting as one's own stunt double.
